FAZ is Players’ Nightmare
The organization is just as important as the soccer players themselves. Without their leadership, the players would not be given the opportunity and venue to develop.
As is the case with Football Association of Zambia whose lack of unity and cohesion is blamed for their lackluster performance in the African Cup. FAZ technical committee and the national team technical bench compiled a 25 page report saying that lack of united vision and trust among the executive members contributed to their downfall.
Included in the report is the fact that the players’ lack of international exposure was evident in their early elimination in the preliminary round of the African Cup. They lost to both Tunisia and Guinea.
Your talent is only as good as the opportunity given to you. Players always start with raw talent that later gets develop through games, trainings, competitions, etc. The kind of organization like FAZ hinders players in an unfair manner. I can imagine what kind of nightmare it bring players with talent and high ambitions (most are in this space) to have an organization similar to this.
It’s easier to replace the leadership team rather than the players. So go and do what’s best for Zambia.
