90 Min. of Protection?

Nike’s boot named “Total 90 Supremacy” was first worn by Rooney on Saturday, the day he suffered a broken metatarsal. Coincidence? Flawed design?

I remember my gym instructress giving me advise on what kind of shoes best fit my physique. She went on by telling me that shoes were designed for special purposes and on different styles of play. She told me to choose a shoe worn by players in forward position if I played the same page. This means, that shoes were not only designed and tested on a specific sport rather than on a specific position or type of player.

Nike came in defense to the exceptionally light weighted shoes designed for Rooney saying that it was tested over and over again without showing any risks whatsoever.

Oh yeah Nike, how could you test a player’s movement combined with the intensity and emotions of a real game? How could you test your light weighted shoes on an important game together with other superstars going after you on a different level and play?

One thing is certain; the normal weighted shoes were used and have been tested through hundreds or even thousands of high impact games over and over again. I would say that the mortality rate of those getting injured is lower than the 0 percent rating of your shoes.

To quote Nike:
‘In some ways, I think these injuries are more linked to the speed the game is played at now.’
Is this the first time you heard that the game is played faster? You might want to increase the speed of your computer program that plays a key role in your tests.
