Torpedoes found it’s target

This was not an acid test game but this guy scoring two goals on Germany’s opening salvo is a morale boosting performance for his country.

The first goal from the left side was a quick shot beautifully executed coming on a pass from the right side box.
The second goal came on a pass from the left side deflected by the Ticos and luckily found a perfect angle on Mikoslav’s head. The Ticos saved the header but not the followup of Mikoslav.

It was a brilliant score by Klose but a pathetic defense specifically Marlin Luis who at the age of 31 wasn’t fast enough to get in the way of Klose’s followup. Given the body movement of his header, Marlin standing on his left side could have prevented that followup but up against the 28 year old German was not enough.
On the contraty, I don’t want to pin a player down since this is a team game and their coach need to sort things out if they are to reach the next round.

It ain’t over yet but in the last two tournaments only one team was able to advance after losing the opener.
