Fabio Simplicio Struck the Final Dagger for West Ham
Fabio Simplicio was the star player for Palermo after scoring two goals in their game against West Ham. His goals came on the 35th and 62nd minute while David Di Michele added a third goal on the 68th minute crushing West Ham on the score of 3 – 0.
The loss of West Ham at the Renzo Barbera Stadium sent them bowing out of the UEFA Cup. The score of the game does not reflect how West Ham played as they were the once who controlled the first half and had numerous chances to score a goal. Alberto Fontano, goalkeeper of Palermo, had an oustanding game denying West Ham on a number of chances.
Alan Pardew’s man showed a different attacking style when he left striker Bobby Zamora of his starting squad that gave them a lot of chances to find the back of the net, however, they were denied by Palermo’s goalkeeper. Carlos Tevez, one of Pardew’s Argentinean players almost scored a goal after he got past his defender and went straight inside the area for a volley only to be swiped by Fontana.
This is a sorry loss for West Ham as they have been booted out of the UEFA Cup, while Palermo looks in good shape to advance further in the tournament.
