Ruud Capitalizes on Ronaldo’s Injury to Show He’s the Main Man
Ruud Van Nistelrooy complained about his role at Manchester United, and demanded for a transfer to a club that shall give him better playing time; as it turned out, it was Real Madrid.
Ruud is a scoring machine but he is not getting any younger and I felt Ruud will be relegated to the sideline with Ronaldo clearly getting better playing time and opportunities. I could not believe Ruud agreed to transfer to a club that barely has enough room for him to perform well.
Ronaldo’s knee operation gave Ruud enough room to breathe with Real Madrid on the field, and he quickly capitalized on his absence with a hat-trick last Sunday against Levant, winning to the score of 4-1. To put icing on the cake, Ruud was even frustrated that he missed a penalty kick on the 85th minute and saw a great save by the goalkeeper on one of the shots he fired that could have given him a five goal output in the game.
This game sent a clear message to Manchester United fans that he isn’t over the hill and at the same time strengthens his position with Real Madrid even if Ronaldo gets back in full swing.
