Roeder Saves His Face

Glenn Roeder needs to save his face especially when the celebrated acquisition of Damien Duff in the cheap sum of £5m is a bust. Newcastle was proud and happy after getting Damien from Chelsea but he hasn’t performed as expected. He is not the best midfielder of Newcastle and clearly he doesn’t deserve the attention and playing time given to him.

Why is Damien played despite other more capable players in the squad?

All players are important but keeping Damien in the lineup makes Glenn’s acquisition correct. Glenn Roeder wants to save his face and has to keep Damien in the team making it look cool.

Now I wonder how long can Glenn keep him in the lineup when some is clearly better than him.
