Kaka In this series of posts we shall look at the most promising young players who will soon capture our imagination and become the biggest stars of the game. As of this writing, Kaka has made it in the provisional team of Brazil. His place on the team is definitely secure. We continue with Kaka. (This is an advance posting.)

Zico explains that Kaka is “Brazil’s finest discovery”. He has the technique of a Brazilian and the physical qualities of a European.

“He’s a well-balanced, laid-back young man, who is not prone to either over-excitement or depression,” explains his coach Carlo Ancelotti with evident admiration. He is mentally very strong and already very mature beyond his years. I don’t think there’s much risk of him getting bigheaded. He is a great champion.”

Adriano In this series of posts we shall look at the most promising young players who will soon capture our imagination and become the biggest stars of the game. It’s too bad this player was not chosen by Bruce Arena to play in the upcoming World Cup. We continue with Adriano. (This is an advance posting.)

A bright future awaits this 22 year old striker especially when his record stands beside of Pele’s 8 goals in Copa America. Having netted 7 goals in the competition, he overtakes Ronaldo and Rivaldi’s 5 goals in 1999. He has a powerful free kick clocked at 80 mph that gives Inter Milan a lot to look forward on this kid.

Inter Milan manager, Roberto Mancini, says the kid has the power of Riva, agility of Van Basten and opportunism of Romario.

On the other hand, Brazilians dislike Adriano because of his “ugly” playing style. He does not possess the gracefulness and beauty that Robinho, Kaka and Ronaldo displays on the field. People are saying that Adriano is bound to hit the marketing efforts of Brazil as the team that wins and plays beautiful soccer.

The future of Arsenal has a chance of catapulting himself to elite status by being the star of Spain in the upcoming World Cup competition. Putting aside both Raul and Xavi’s poor physical conditioning, this kid has the maturity as a midfielder providing the opportunity to strikers to get the ball behind the net.

This soon to be Arsenal superstar has enjoyed a successful career at FIFA U-17 World Championship Finland 2003 by winning the best player and top scorer awards.

Starting his career at the age of 16 on the Arsenal side saw his career blossom as one of the influential players of the team. Coach Arsene Wenger of Arsenal has full confidence in this kid and has given him every opportunity to develop with the team.

His young career highlights include:

Walcott What?

Monday, May 8th, 2006

Theo Walcott What was going on in the mind of Sven-Goran Eriksson for choosing this kid to play in the World Cup? He admits it’s a gamble not based on logical reasoning rather than feeling. I freaking disagree on Walcott though I am a big fan of deciding through “gut instincts” which makes me somehow accept his decision to some extent.

I expected this kid to make it in 2010 England team but not sooner than that. He doesn’t have the speed to blow away, the short stop moves, the powerful kicks nor the upper strength to play in the World Cup level.

What I am impressed though is the way he positions himself on the field and through sheer force of will, he continuously attack no matter how much beating he gets. He reminds me of Allen Iverson from the NBA who despite of his physique plays with a heart so big for his opponents to destroy.

Sven might have dreamt that this kid would wake up in the morning of every World Cup game with bigger and stronger legs, faster movement and better ball handling skills. Maybe Sven watched too much Spiderman movies.

On the other side, England has nothing to lose and playing a young player like him would be beneficial for the long-term goal of the team; also, his decision makes his relationship with Arsenal stronger. Who knows, the prophetic Sven might have a player that performs similar to Wayne Gretzky who shocked the arena in his first all-star game.

Look at the wunderkind below and prepare to get bored on his skills.

Kaka Revisited

Tuesday, May 2nd, 2006

I made a post on Kaka being Brazil’s finest discovery in my World Cup blog.

In an excerpt:

Kaka is standing out amongst the talented pool of football players in Brazil. According to Pele Kaka is very skillful and already one of the best players in the world.

Ricardo Izecson Santos Leite, Kaka’s real name, despite being only 22 years old has already propelled fellow countryman Rivaldo towards the exit door, has relegated Portuguese legend Rui Costa to the bench and continuously serves as the driving force and brains of AC Milan football club

Evaluating Sergio Aguero

Monday, May 1st, 2006

This is a powerful display of Sergio’s football talent. Judging by his moves, Argentina has got a lot of things to celebrate years ahead.

Below is a report telling us teams should sign this kid before his value becomes insanely high given his talent and media hype.

Next Maradona has Arrived

Monday, May 1st, 2006

Sergio Kun Aguero The superstar of de Avellaneda youth made his debut on Red Devils at the age of fifteen and three years after is ripe for the world’s biggest competition. Explosive pace, quick short stops, crisp change of direction on the dribble, and a deadly scoring kick makes up this young lad who everyone wants to see in the coming World Cup competition.

Pekerman is feeling much pressure from the Argentina fans, Diego Maradona, Media to have Aguero selected. Playing for Argentina youth teams is different from playing in senior internationals, let alone from playing in the World Cup competition as Pekerman says that players usually wait until 24-25 years of age before reaching the World Cup competition.

Well, one keynote on you Pekerman: Argentina is not going to win the World Cup in Germany with or without Aguero. Given Sergio’s talent, putting him on the team is not shortchanging anyone; he’s got what it takes to be there skill wise. Experience wise, you got to give it to him. Four years from now you will not have to coach with a lot of sweat anymore having him on your team.

Below is an introduction to Aguero:
