Butcher Tim Cahill performed his job extremely well leaving opponents bloodied in the field.
When he came in as a substitution for Marco in the second half people in the chat room said it was a good decision and I do agree though I doubted how much of an impact he would be to actually help Australia win it’s first World Cup Finals game. Right after the substitution I was thinking of writing a profile of Cahill justifying whether the replacement was valid but I felt it was not worth my time.
Philippe Troussier left Nakamura Shunsuke out in FIFA World Cup 2002!
Turning 28 in the 24th of June, he is going to prove he deserves to be on the team and since the start of the game against Australia he has been working hard showing he has the right to be there.
On the 26th minute of the Japan vs Australia game (Liveblogging here) Nakamura unleashed a difficult cross that sales over Schwarzer and shows why he is here.
Nakamura who scored the only goal so far is a talented playmaking midfielder whose passes and dead-ball skills are dangerous. He is one of the marked men in the Japanses squad.
Does Germany have enough Tequila’s for the Mexicans? Omar Bravo scored two goals to lead the game against Iran finishing the game with the score of 3-1.
The second goal of 26 year old Omar came on a defensive collapse of Iran in the 76th minute of the game. Fans erupted and could smell the game closing down on Iran.
Iran’s team play and aggresiveness in the second half subsided tremendously compared to their execution and overall aggresiveness in the first half.
This was not an acid test game but this guy scoring two goals on Germany’s opening salvo is a morale boosting performance for his country.
The first goal from the left side was a quick shot beautifully executed coming on a pass from the right side box.
The second goal came on a pass from the left side deflected by the Ticos and luckily found a perfect angle on Mikoslav’s head. The Ticos saved the header but not the followup of Mikoslav.
Is it Adrenaline of the hysteria happening just hours before the World Cup? Or is Michael Ballack just ready to play?
Coach Jurgen Klinsmann did not feel optimistic about Michael playing the in the first game after he broke off from training after half an hour to undergo intensive treatment.
He went on by saying:
“Naturally, we would have loved to have Michael on board for the opening game. He is our leader, our captain, but the most important thing for us is that he recovers as soon as possible and can concentrate on regaining match fitness. We hope to have him available for our second match.”
Rooney cleared for takeoff (owes it to legions of supporters)! Everyone especially England waited anxiously when Rooney checked in the hospital for his scheduled scan a litte over lunch time. Sigh of relief for the whole world after England doctor Leif Sward, Man Utd club doctor Tony Gill, physiotherapist Rob Swire and another doctor (for second opinion) gave Rooney the go signal.
It’s judgement day for the England star! Wayne Rooney was the main attraction during England’s training session in Germany and people are waiting whether the star would be able to play in the FIFA World Cup which kicks off in the next two days.
Rooney is going to fly back to Manchester for a final scan and his fate will be decided within the next 16 hours. Everyone wants him to play I suppose, whether you are routing or against England.
His chances looks good especially after seeing him exercise — ball work, sprinting, stretches.
And yes, good news to all fans because it seems Rooney is getting better everyday. England media has reported that Wayne Rooney’s dinged foot was used to kick a ball and shall be back again on Monday. News everywhere is raising their stakes on England hopefuls with him showing signs of playing again.
I can imagine how much money is flying around in World Cup bet when news like this comes out.
World Cup 2006 is getting closer and closer each day. Let’s look at arguably the top ten goals of the tournament.
I got a little bored probably because I did not see my favorites Ronaldinho and Ronaldo in the video. At least the video got saved by the number one goal. (This is an advance posting.)
