o Captain, my Captain

Patrick VieiraPatrick Vieira (number 4 in the picture) was impressive as he took the reigns of team captain in absence of Zidane’s suspension and helped France avoid becoming wandering fools in Germany.

The match was tough so was the position of France who is yet to win a Finals game this year. Without Zidane it seems they are heading out the door once again, but 30-year old Vieira had other things in mind.

He opened the second half of the game with a goal on the 55th minute then assisted Zidane 6 minutes later on another goal.

Coach Domenec told the media Patrick is going to be one of the great players in the tournament and the player responded with an impressive performance that Zidane could not do at this point who is four years older than Patrick.

France is fortunate to have him because he is one of few players who can break up opposition attacks and lead attacking moves for his team who starred in UEFA Euro 2000.

Coach Domenec holds the player at high regard and has paid tribute to him by wearing the captain’s armband and given justice to his coach’s decision.

Domenec has this to say:

I always said that Pat could be one of the great players of this World Cup and he’s confirming that, I’m happy for my players who did what they had to.

The million dollar question is this: How would France perform when Zidane is back?
